Disconnect |Replica, 2007|

1. Residual Burnoff, 2. The End of Me, 3. What You Want, 4. Lost, 5. Disconnect, 6. Away, 7. Absolution, 8. Collapsing, 9. None of it Matters

Replica is a relatively new project of Chris Egert founded in 2006 which finally led to release the first full album and contains a collection of industrial rock orientated songs kept in a vibe of Nine Inch Nails, Hate Dept. or KMFDM bands. First NIN albums received a remarkable feedback as well as have been standing for an influence for many bands and listeners. Replica used that influence slightly and besides that, gave us well done songs arrangements and also cool guitar riffs mingled with electronics. Samples don't sound ready-made but undoubtedly know-how.

The only one thing which should be worked out harder are the vocals. Chris has rather high voice and not that well practiced yet, but he's a young, 23-y.o. man, so I do believe an improvement depends on how to control his voice. Chris has been practicing his programming skills since a few months in New York, where he relocated from Massillion, OH. As a person responsible for music and sounds for movies, video games and other multimedia projects his career may rise up within the next few years. Replica onstage consists of Scott Paris (guitar), Nick Molen (guitar), Josh Harris (synthesizers, sampling), and Joe Middleton (drums).

I think Collapsing song is the best of the 9 tracks on Disconnect album with cool guitar riffs and cold electronic background. None of Matters contains predatory guitar lead motif intersected by cold samples, similar to those you can find on Pretty Hate Machine CD by NIN. Additionally the song has a very interesting construction, with moments of calming down and intensity of all previously used sounds in the song's final accent. It's worth of listening to Residual Burnoff, kind of aggressive, dense song and The End of Me, with very cool samples and well build song's framework.
Replica's views for the future sounds optimistic to me thanx to Chris' passions and his present works. The next album by Replica may sound even more interesting with vocals worked out better or a hired vocalist while Chris could focus on programming more. ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz.
