There's Beauty In The Purity Of Sadness |Voices Of Wonder, 1994|
Wounds, Naked, Resist, Mindblazt, Mastodome, Shivers, [?], Mother Of All, a.ß.y.l.e.a.k, Sadness, The Art Of Radiation
Apocalyptic Industrial Paranoia Metal - it is a name which Red Harvest labeled their music with. They worked out a new style for so called industrial-metal genre and expanded sounds created by Fear Factory or Mnemic adding black metal vibe. There is one track what knocked me out - 'Naked', the rest is hard for a digestion, sad and experimental, some songs have the... gothic rock-like vibes ( a.ß.y.l.e.a.k. i Mastodome). Cold Dark Matter |Nocturnal Art Prod., 2000 i Relapse Records US, 2001|
Omnipotent, Last Call, Absolut Dunkel:heit, Cold Dark Matter, Junk-O-Rama, Fix, , Hammer, Fix, The Itching Scull, Death In Cyborg Era, Move Or Be Moved
It happens there are interesting bands jumping out of the mainstream from time to time. Red Harvest, a band coming from Norway belongs to those prodigies which give their own sound to the well known genres. Just listen to Last Call. The album is a way showing how to mingle the Norwegian black metal with American industrial-metal styles of music what turns out to be a very special mixture. This music has good views for the future although I'm not a fan of black metal. Just listen to Dunkel:heit. I've been wondering where I came across the sounds from Omnipotent, I'm sure I've heard it before... Ministry..??? Skrew?? A note: The American release contains additional tracks which come from 'New Rage World Music': Intro, Ad Noctum, Move Or Be Moved (preview), Swallow The Sun, Pity The Bastard. Sick Transit Gloria Mundi |Nocturnal Art Prod., 2002|
U.G.X., AEP., Godtech, Humanoia, Dead, CyberNaut, Beyond The End, Desolation, Sick Transit Gloria Mundi, Dead Men Don't Rape, WeltSchmertz, [Dead End]
A short intro and then.... Then comes the rage! AEP - a fusion of black metal guitar sounds with sampled drums and distorted vocals sounds amazing. The next track 'Godtech' is softer a bit (with such a good title it could sound even better I guess). Then we got another part of black metal ride with patterns known from Pitchshifter or Godflesh music ('Humanoia'). 'Dead' could be a soundtrack for the Doom 3 videogame ;-). There is a moment in 'CyberNaut' song circa 02:31 minutes where the guitars, drums and voices disappear and comes a very cool track. 'Beyond The End' it's a black metal rage again and 'Desolation' goes a bit slower, making the blood pressure lower before the title song 'Sick Transit Gloria Mundi' comes on. And finally a hard hit of 'Dead Man Don't Rape' and 'WeltSchmertz'. The album finishes with a bit experimental song called 'Dead End'. ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz. Hybreed |Voices of Wonder, 1996|
MaztürNation, The Lone Walk , Mutant , After All... , Ozrham , On Sacred Ground , The Harder They Fall , Underwater , Monumental , In Deep , The Burning Wheel
It stays for longer in the memory. Heavy, dark, slowly and trance sound with addition of a few soundscapes (In Deep). 'MazturNation' warms up, 'Ozrham' kicks ass but the end of 'On Sacred Ground' kills (it reminds me a bit Ministry 'Kaif' song...). As for the track called 'The Lone Walk', well, it could be listened for a few hours non stop. Marvelous guitar riffs in 'The Harder They Fall' and 'In Deep' with its a way exotic, even ritual drum beats.
Voices are similar to those which can be heard in Devin Townsands's solo ventures (SYL) and a few gothic rock bands ;) HyBreed can be put between metal-industrial and dark ambient genres but Red Harvest it's a very difficult band to be classified so let's leave them alone ;) ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz.
