Where Life Ends This Begins |Posthuman Productions, 2006|

Spectral, The Bleeder: The Release, Resurgence, Detonation, All The Days Are Gone, Where Life Ends This Begins, Eveything is Ble Here, Straight to Hell, N.B.K, The Decay That Follows: The Loss of Feeling, POsthuman Ascension, Axis, Precursor: Stage 01, The Lobby: Going Home.

Adam Pask, an australian musician, composer and producer created 14 instrumental songs kept in an ambient style. The first thing came to my mind when I unpacked the CD was that the song titles sound very sad and even apocalyptic. The album begins with a short intro Spectral.
There are at least seven tracks with this kind of vibe - ambient and soundscape background kept in a very good composition built by intriguing samples. The killer on the album is called Detonator. Try to imagine a mixture of the best instrumental songs taken from Nine Inch Nails, Gary Numan or Pink Floyd albums. A characteristic guitar loop is mingled with modern drums and spiced with awesome samples. All The Days Are Gone begins with a very movie like sound texture.

Everything Is Blue Here it's a simple kick for Reznor who stopped making ambitious tracks and left older fans with some kind of insatiety. The song also shows an excellent way of how to proceed with ideas wrapped in marvellous compositions. It's not a copy of NIN songs, it's something far more evolving.

Straight to Hell it's a partly trip hop and partly a dark electronic song. Lots of movie dialogues included. Telling the truth I feel a lack of something in that song, maybe a remix could sound more progressive. N.B.K following this track sounds way cool with the song structure and its density. Plus additional female voices sampled into. The Decay That Follows: The Loss of Feeling it's my favourite song on the album. Long, trance-like repeating track with a psychodelic vibe.
Posthuman Ascension develops with its click & cuts method and rising obsessive bass and synths in the end of the song. Another act of genuine is Precursor: Stage 01. Kept in an atmosphere of dissolution and post-humanity doesn't remind me anything I have came across so far. If you are a fan of soundtracks or a science fiction books with a weird scenario, just listen to that amazing composition first to dive in an outer-space.

Australia gives birth to genius and original musicians from time to time to mention Dead Can Dance, AC/DC, The Church or newer scene bands like The Strange, Jerk or Empty. Wide perspective with intriguing compositions should attract you to purchase Pask music for every price, he's worth of any interest! ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz.
