 Prime Evil |Victor Entertainment Japan, 1997|  1. Prime Evil, 2. Wrecked (Ken Ishii Remix), 3. War Pigs, 4. Everything (Pig Remix), 5. The Keeper Of The Margarita, 6. Save Me (Locust Remix), 7. Silt (Euphonic Remix) This EP contains 3 new and some diverse revisitations of songs that appeared on "Wrecked". The first song "Prime Evil", thanks to the contribution of the epic samples provides an excellent appetizer. Ken Ishi, producer and DJ, manipulates the second track "Wrecked", offering a good techno aftertaste. "War Pigs", the second unreleased track, is a discreet cover of the famous Black Sabbath song. Everything is superbly remixed by Watts, who proceeds to decompose and transform the original burst into a fragmented, and organic sound of depravity. If the energy and impact of the "Everything Original" version can be compared to sex, of which Watt’s music is pregnant, then you could say that it is a multiple orgasm, while the revised version is an interrupted coitus that keeps you with bated breath. The third unreleased track is an ambient/mambo digression. "Saved", remixed by Locust, is one of my favorite remixes of all time. It is almost unrecognizable from the original version, sounding anabolic, with a hardcore drum machine, and debris of an Aphex Twin song: "Start As You Mean To Go". To close the EP there is a pleasant drum 'n' bass version of "Silt". An enjoyable album with exceptional artwork. (Marco Gariboldi. Proofreading: Scott M. Owens) |
