It's a debut CD by Californian from db9d9, way more beat based than the album released 4 years later. The sound reminds me a mixture of vibes known from KMFDM and Gravity Kills albums, but the rest is only up to the band. There's a lot of samples, industrial noises and juicy rhythm but also predatory guitar riffs. I loved an instrumental track "Headhunter" from the first listening (it fits perfectly video games or visuals). I paid attention at once to "No Light" (awesome guitars!) but I got melt totally by "Black" track with this refrain going like "Everything Dies!".

This album is a great choice for a club party to make the clubbers shaking more, especially those who need something more edgy than a synthetic poo-poo.
A professional release, artworks printing, good mastering and of course musicians' ideas build a very good image for this album. Everything seems to be kept in a balance and to me it's a candidate for one of the best industrial rock albums ever released. I'm pleased to put the highest grade. ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz. I guess the band is totally unknown in Poland, or maybe in the rest of Europe as well so thus I'm going to zoom at the band for you. This South California based band was founded in the 90s by Eric Recourt. They've released 2 full albums so far and a demo in 1997. The latest album was put out in 2003 and it's a very interesting release to me. Maybe way more interesting than the debut CD.

Something To Cry About contains 10 songs kept in an atmosphere known from releases by f.e. Drown, Circle of Dust and Argyle Park but also the first Nine Inch Nails record. There are tunes and guitar riffs typical for DB9DB. I like gentle dynamics in their vibe as well - the drummer is Susan Scholten. I find "Simulator", "Night Vision" and "Flesh" awesome songs and I do recommend them to listen to in the first place, but the others create the album atmosphere too. ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz. These are the 3 songs I got for a review recorded this year so seems like DB9D9 prepares for a new attack with an incoming album. If the rest of the songs will sound like those three, it will be a very good release, very rhythmic and edgy at the same time, guitar driven industrial rock orientated.

DB9D9 is one of more interesting bands on the scene to me. There's a killer song called "Divine" amongst, great for dancefloors and if well support it has a chance to be a radio hit. If Eric Recourt, the band's founder decides to make a videoclip for the song we should watch it on main music TV stations then ;) Such a mixture between juicy guitar riffs and looped samples with a bit of disco (a devilish, apocalyptic disco!) rhythm cannot pass by with no listeners' attention.
After listening to "Good To Be Bad" my ear wants more and louder. So I'm sure you'll find it very cool to listen to the entire album sometime soon and... recall my prophecy words ;)
