The newest Killling Joke album it's a very interesting fusion between dirty guitar driven rock music with industrial rock features. Such samples addition and computer use make undeniable interesting background for characteristic vocals of Jaz Coleman. The album didn't make me interested at the very beginning because it doesn't open with the best songs. My enthusiasm has arisen tho to reach an apogee state with the two following songs "Walking With Gods" and "The Lightbringer". Maybe someone would find them boring due to their length and similar looped rhythm, guitar riffs and lyrics, but personally I take them as masterpieces just because of those even mechanically repeating features.

The powerdrive of the songs lays on a trance rhythm so can be listened until they get us really bored after hours of auditioning. Then we have another seven songs to listen to where your attention could be attracted by "Gratitude" with high pitched guitar riff and slowed tempo so typical for Killing Joke music. Moreover I could hear Ministry influences [The Dark Side of A Spoon album] there except the vocals.

I can't imagine if lack of good ideas might be a reason for Killing Joke to quit someday. The fact is the band has been releasing albums for over 20 years so far and each of them brings something new to rock music history and as well as to the bands discography. Such an album makes reviewers' (pens in the past now keyboards rather ;) happy every time not to mention Killing Joke fans getting awesome tunes to let it bring rocking newbies as well.

The power of Killing Joke stands for such guitar driven and dirty rock music richen with intelligent lyrics so let them submit the next album in the same way. ( Katarzyna NINa Górnisiewicz. Must not be used for promotional or commercial purposes. See a Legal Note for the copyrights below)
